Kitchener, ON – After an unprecedented summer of fundraising, Mike Morrice is already gearing up for the next federal election, whenever one may be called.
“We were only just getting started – and now more than ever, we still have so much more to fight for,” said Morrice. “I feel so affirmed and supported by countless people who have reached out to see how they can help. I still have the fire in my belly, and I know the sooner we start, the stronger we’ll be.”
Federal Kitchener Centre Greens increased their number of monthly donors by 20 times over the summer, with volunteers already organizing to ensure Morrice can hear from every constituent over the coming months.
After an uncontested nomination process, Morrice is the first candidate confirmed by the Green Party of Canada.
“I could not be more pleased and proud to know that one of the best MPs in Canadian history – Mike Morrice – will be back in the House as MP for Kitchener Centre. Mike is the first nominated Green for the next election. I hope to be the second!” said Elizabeth May, Leader of the Green Party of Canada.
Morrice was first elected in 2021 and represented Kitchener Centre until the federal election earlier this year. He became known nationally for his work to both fast-track and improve the Canada Disability Benefit which started rolling out to Canadians with disabilities in July.
Morrice was less than 400 votes away from keeping his seat, in a national election that saw most ridings go to Conservative or Liberal candidates.
