The Green Party of Canada is pleased to announce Devon Christoffel as the Party’s new Shadow Cabinet Youth Critic.

Devon Christoffel brings a strong track record of youth leadership, health care experience, and community advocacy to this role. Currently a pediatric resident physician based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan Devon was appointed to the Young Greens Council last summer, and in that time has served as Prairies Representative and co-chair of the YGC Governance Committee. Devon has worked in urban, rural, and northern clinical settings and has supported youth and families through navigating health systems, mental health challenges, and access to care. His extensive volunteer and governance work with youth-focused organizations underscores a commitment to lifting up young voices in public policy and civic life.

“Young people across this country are facing crises of affordability, climate disruption, and barriers to meaningful participation in democratic life, and it’s past time their perspectives were centred in political decision-making,” said Green Party Leader Elizabeth May. “Devon’s compassion, leadership, and deep experience working directly with youth make him an outstanding addition to our Shadow Cabinet.”

Devon Christoffel shared enthusiasm for his new role: “I’m honoured to serve as Youth Critic and to advocate for a Canada where every young person has access to health, opportunity, and a voice in shaping the future. I look forward to working with communities from coast to coast to coast to advance bold solutions for youth well-being and intergenerational justice.”

As Shadow Cabinet Youth Critic, Devon will help shape the Green Party’s direction on policies affecting young Canadians, including mental health supports, education affordability, climate justice, democratic inclusion, and opportunities for meaningful civic participation.
