Pooja Malhotra is a 33-year old former lecturer turned medical copywriter and community organizer, driven by a lifelong commitment to justice, compassion, and collective action. Born and raised in India, she moved to Canada in 2019, a place she now proudly calls home. As Wayne Potoroka once said, “Canadians are born all over the world; it just takes them some time to get home.”

Pooja grew up politically aware, marching alongside her mother in protests against corruption and inequality.

Before immigrating, Pooja earned degrees in Fashion Design and Costume Design for Performance in India and the UK, later teaching as a senior lecturer. Her studies introduced her to Indigenous design traditions, including those of the Coast Salish peoples, which inspired her to move to Canada.

During the pandemic, she worked on the vaccine rollout, supported Black Lives Matter, and deepened her understanding of Truth and Reconciliation. Following October 7, 2023, she helped organize actions with Toronto World Beyond War, Palestinian Youth Movement, and later with the Scarborough Southwest chapter of the 4Palestine riding groups, a growing grassroots collective focused on solidarity, community care, and local action.

Having witnessed the impacts of climate change firsthand, Pooja believes social, environmental, and human justice are deeply interconnected. She strives to build a politics rooted in courage, empathy, and truth, one that represents people, not power.

What It Means
To Vote Green

  • It means putting communities first. Green MPs have the freedom to vote based on local priorities, not party politics. We stand firmly for Canadian communities and values against all threats.

  • It means fighting for economic fairness. Our plan provides cost-of-living relief for working Canadians while protecting jobs and businesses from economic disruptions.

  • It means building lasting prosperity. Our climate strategy creates good jobs and strong communities that can weather future challenges. We plan for generations, not election cycles.
