Andrew Massey is long-time renter and resident of downtown Toronto and the Green Party Candidate for the upcoming University-Rosedale by-election.

Andrew believes that politics should be more straightforward and accessible to all. By the same token, he would like to see more honest and trustworthy politicians who advocate for the issues that really matter to Canadians.

His priority is to focus on affordability, accountability, and dignity for all. He remains a committed advocate for fair voting, guaranteed livable income, and youth employment opportunities.

Andrew grew up in small towns across southern Ontario. After graduating from the University of Toronto, he travelled widely and worked in Japan as a teacher before returning in 2015 and settling in the Grange Park neighbourhood. An experienced writer and editor, he now works as a technical writer on public infrastructure projects in the rail transportation industry.

Andrew understands the draw and challenges of living and raising a family in Toronto’s core. The culture, community, and access to world-class institutions make life here incredible. However, the high cost of living, aging infrastructure, and gaps in the social safety net are undeniable. More must be done to support downtown residents.

Green Party candidates regularly bring up environmental issues, but nature is not our only worry. Fixing the economic and political environments must be a priority. Youth unemployment is alarmingly high, and voter turnout is at historic lows. These trends must be reversed.

The Green Party is not Left, nor Right, but forward thinking, and at this moment, forward-thinking solutions are desperately needed.

Andrew wants his fellow constituents to feel secure and cared for in their own environments. The government must take better care of its people so that the people can make better decisions about what is best for the country going forward.

What It Means
To Vote Green

  • It means putting communities first. Green MPs have the freedom to vote based on local priorities, not party politics. We stand firmly for Canadian communities and values against all threats.

  • It means fighting for economic fairness. Our plan provides cost-of-living relief for working Canadians while protecting jobs and businesses from economic disruptions.

  • It means building lasting prosperity. Our climate strategy creates good jobs and strong communities that can weather future challenges. We plan for generations, not election cycles.
