Stuart Hunter

Young Greens - Co-Chair

stuart.hunter@greenparty.ca

I would like to continue to serve the Young Greens as Co-Chair (and Youth Representative on Federal Council) because I want to continue building on the experience I have gained in party governance as co-chair since 2018. I also currently serve on the YGC Governance Committee and the FC Governance Committee. Previously, I have served on the Leadership Contest Committee and the YGC Campaigns Committee. The YGC Council has done good work over the past two years, but it isn’t finished. And I want to make sure it keeps going.

I joined the Greens because I recognize the influence government has on every aspect of society, and I want to support people who wield that influence responsibly, taking into consideration all consequences of their actions. My first involvement was with the UVic Greens during Jo-Ann Roberts’ 2015 campaign. Since then, I have served on the club executive (2016-2019) and on my riding association (2016), and volunteered on campaigns for the BC Greens in 2017, Mike Schreiner in 2018, and my local GPC candidates in 2019. I keep doing more and more; this party is worth the time and effort.

I live in Victoria and graduated from UVic last fall with a BA (Hons.) in French. I am fluently bilingual ― an undeniable asset as the Party grows and develops. I still work as a research assistant for a French prof, and intend to start an MA in French at UVic in September 2020.
