Earth Day for an Oil-Free Coast

Event Description

Join Elizabeth May, O.C., MP and Robert Bateman, Chief Vern Jacks, Sierra Club BC and Raincoast Conservation Foundation for Earth Day for an Oil Free Coast!

Kinder Morgan plans to ship 400 tankers loaded with tar sands oil each year through our islands. The Salish Sea is host to wild salmon populations, resident birds and migratory birds on the Pacific flyway, estuaries, shellfish beds and the habitat of many rare, threatened or endangered marine and coastal species - Including much of the critical habitat of Canada’s endangered southern resident killer whales.

Get the facts:
- our iconic and ecologically important places;
- what could be affected if the oil spilled; and
- where it would go, as proved by Raincoast's Drift Card Project

Displays, music, coffee, slide presentation and discussion on keeping our coasts oil free.
