The Green Party of Canada uses the Bonser Ballot Method, a colour-coded voting process, to test for consensus and inform decision-making on motions submitted in advance of a General Meeting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
For each motion, members vote one of three colours:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Green<\/strong>: “I understand this motion and support it.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n Red<\/strong>: “I understand this motion and oppose it.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n Yellow<\/strong>: “I want to learn more, or I support the concept but not the current wording.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n A motion is recommended for adoption if more than 60% of votes cast are green. A motion is recommended for rejection if more than 60% are red. Motions that meet neither threshold are considered yellow and move to the next stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Yellow motions are sent to workshop groups for further discussion and possible amendment.
