Animals are sentient beings capable of feeling pain, suffering, and emotional distress \u2014 this is a fact that the European Union, the United Kingdom, and many other countries have already recognized in their laws. We believe it\u2019s time for Canada to do the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s why MP Elizabeth May, leader of the Green Party of Canada, has sponsored a parliamentary petition calling for the recognition of animal sentience in Canadian law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
