I am increasing my monthly donation to the Green Party because I support their credibility on climate action and their reason on fair taxation through a tax system overhaul. Canada needs the Green Party!

I had been thinking of perhaps increasing my monthly donation, as it has been constant for a fair while. But the catalyst was an email a few days ago about Elizabeth May’s comments in parliament on the erosion of parliamentary democracy. That struck me as extremely important in this day and age.

There are a couple of reasons why I decided to double my monthly donation to the Green Party in 2026.

Firstly, I have been impressed lately how communications from the Party have improved. We now hear more often about significant things that happening in the House of Commons thanks to the incredible astuteness of Elizabeth May. And I always appreciate hearing the background of these items explained in a logical and understandable manner. News items from within the Party and from Greens around the country are also welcome. All this to say that the Green Party is increasingly in our consciousness. Smart move!

Secondly, I have always admired the stamina of Elizabeth May, our lone representative. I don’t think there’s another MP who works so hard and diligently. The least we can do is to show her our appreciation with our donation.

Lastly, being in my late 80s, there are limited things left that I can do for the Party. But I can still support it financially! In these difficult economic times, younger people have a hard time making a decent living for themselves and their families. Oftentimes, all their energies are taken up with navigating through life successfully. It’s a wonder that we still have people who care about what the future holds for all of us, who work tirelessly for the GP, and who are not afraid to show us what life could be under the Green banner. We seniors, too old to work alongside them, owe it to them to show our support at least financially. I encourage everyone who is in my position and can afford it, to increase their donation. The Greens deserve it and appreciate it.

Thank goodness there is one voice in Parliament calling out for truth and justice, social well-being, and a commitment to protecting the environment upon which our very lives depend. I am glad to hear that you will continue on. I know it cannot be AT ALL easy. But know that we appreciate you, your sacrifices and your hard work every single day to make life better for us all. And many thanks to the team of staff and volunteers who give so much time and energy to our cause, to the Green Party members and donors. All of us together make the impossible, possible.

In the 2025 election I voted Green again and feel good about it. If we all just vote how our heart tells us we should, we WILL get it done. Keep up the positive work.
