The Site C dam has now been approved by the B.C. NDP government. The project will flood over 12,500 hectares of fertile farmland and sacred Indigenous territory in the Peace River valley.
The B.C. Utilities Commission’s final report, which concluded that the project’s costs continue to escalate, and that renewable energy sources such as wind, geothermal, and solar are affordable alternatives, was meant to guide the B.C. NDP’s final decision.
