(OTTAWA) — Elizabeth May, Leader of the Green Party of Canada and MP (Saanich — Gulf Islands), issued the following statement in celebration of Canada Day:
“Today we celebrate our beautiful country with family, friends and our respective communities.
“This is an opportunity to show our gratitude for living in a country where citizens share the common values of democracy, freedom, compassion, and equality.
“The Green Party believes in a Canada that fosters diversity yet works as a united country. In Canada we proudly celebrate our francophone, Indigenous and immigrant heritage as we do being Canadian.
