(OTTAWA) October 19, 2017 – Elizabeth May, Leader of the Green Party of Canada (MP, Saanich-Gulf Islands), released the following statement to mark the first day of Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights.
“Diwali reminds us of the light inside all of us, celebrating the victory of good over evil, light over darkness, and knowledge over ignorance. Families in my riding and across Canada come together to exchange gifts, share meals, and create light in celebration of this festive time of year.
“In addition to Hindus, Buddhists and Jains will be celebrating Diwali, as well. On behalf of the Green Party of Canada, I wish everyone celebrating a Happy Diwali.”
