Emergency Action Required.

Stand with the Wet’suwet’en.

Canada cannot say it intends to implement the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) and then send armed police to remove hereditary chiefs from blocking a pipeline project they didn’t consent to in the first place.

We’re going to hold this government accountable. That’s why the Green Party caucus led by Elizabeth May has put out an urgent call to Greens across Canada.

We need as many hard-copy signatures as possible on our petition calling on the government to order the RCMP to stand down against the Wet’suwet’en.

Call off the RCMP

For every 25 signatures we gather, Greens have one speaking opportunity in the House.

If we can get enough signatures, all three members can stand in front of Justin Trudeau and Jagmeet Singh every day the House sits and ask why they’re allowing this flagrant violation of Indigenous rights to continue.

Can you go out into your community, get 25 signatures and mail them to us? Can you bring a petition to your office or your child’s soccer game or your coffee shop or your farmers market and get just 25 friends to add their names?

What can I do as a Green to support the solidarity actions?

  1. Read through the Unist’ot’en Supporter Toolkit. The Wet’suwet’en land defenders need our help with volunteers and solidarity actions. Find a solidarity action near you to stand with the Wet’suwet’en. Contact your representatives directly and tell your MP or your MLA that you’re disturbed by the police raids. Find all that and more on the Unist’ot’en supporter toolkit.

  2. Follow Indigenous leaders on social media. Read independent news. Be critical of anyone calling the demonstrations and solidarity actions “unlawful”. These actions are lawful, right and working.

  3. Download our petition package. Educate your neighbours and help Elizabeth May and the Green caucus demand Indigenous rights and full implementation of UNDRIP from our government each and every day the House is in session.

What do Green MPs think about the solidarity actions stopping rail traffic in Canada?

  • Elizabeth May: "Thank God for them. They’re starting a very necessary conversation."
