Craig DeCraene lives in Delta, British Columbia, with his wife and two daughters. They moved to Delta three years ago from Vancouver looking for a place to raise their young family.
Craig has enjoyed a long career in the trades and automotive repair sector, and only recently joined the world of politics through his environmentally conscious independent campaign for Delta City Council. In addition to holding an ITA certificate as an Automotive Glass Technician, Craig received a certificate in Web Publishing from Langara College in 2006.
Craig was motivated to run for the Green Party of Canada because he knows there is much that can be done at the federal level to combat the climate crisis. On top of environmental issues, he will work to ensure more is done to improve and fund mental health and addictions services.
What first inspired Craig to enter politics was the Clayoquot Sound logging protests, which were happening in the early 1990s. Driving past the camp and seeing the protests was a tipping point for him, and instilled in him a desire to be part of the fight for climate justice. Fast forward 20 years, Craig still has the same passion for protecting the environment to ensure future generations can prosper.
In his spare time, when not enjoying time with his wife and two young kids, Craig likes to play the bass guitar. It is a pastime that brings him back to his young adulthood, when he played in several local bands. Beginning in 2019, he wants to organize and attend shoreline cleanups to help ensure plastics and other garbage stays out of our oceans.
