Cameron Semple was born and raised in Etobicoke. He graduated from Etobicoke Collegiate Institute in 2009, and has since been pursuing degrees in economics and computer science, part-time from Harvard University and MIT. 

Professionally, Cameron is an entrepreneur and product manager in Canada’s technology sector. While his recent focus has been on developing artificial intelligence startups, he has also served as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at The Next Big Thing Foundation, and at Hootsuite – a social media management platform used by over 80% of Fortune 500 companies, where he led product growth for Hootsuite Ads. 

Cameron has received numerous awards for leadership and innovation, including the 2009 Harry Jerome Award for Leadership and being named one of Canada’s Top Ten Under-25 Game Changers and Innovators in 2014. As the size of our world increases, Cameron believes one of our next, great challenges will be accounting for how our systems need to change and adapt to the new normal. He believes we need more people in government who understand how data and modern technology are changing the systems we all depend on.
