(OTTAWA) October 19, 2017 – Elizabeth May, Leader of the Green Party of Canada (MP, Saanich-Gulf Islands), released the following statement to commemorate the Sikh holiday of Bandi Chhor Divas.
“Bandi Chhor Divas, the Sikh Day of Liberation, marks the release from prison of Guru HargoBind. Guru HarGobind has served as a source of inspiration for Sikhs over generations, having secured the release of many political prisoners. Those celebrating this holiday in my riding and across Canada will gather to feast, give gifts and enjoy in the company of loved ones.
