Green Party of Canada congratulates Scottish Greens on Electoral Success

(OTTAWA) May 6, 2016 - Elizabeth May, Leader of the Green Party of Canada (MP, Saanich-Gulf Islands), released the following statement following the 2016 Scottish Parliamentary election:

"On behalf of the Green Party of Canada, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the six Greens elected to Scottish Parliament, who could hold the balance of power," Ms. May said. "In particular, we celebrate the success of 21-year-old Ross Greer, who becomes Scotland's youngest parliamentarian under the Green banner.

"Young people in Canada and around the world are recognizing that Greens provide progressive, practical solutions on issues from climate change to social justice. I will continue to push for electoral reform that includes proportional representation here at home, so that Greens in Canada see similar success in 2019. Congratulations to the Scottish Greens!"
