OTTAWA – Green Party Leader Elizabeth May (Saanich-Gulf Islands) has named Greg Malone (Avalon, NL) as critic for health on the party’s Shadow Cabinet. The Shadow Cabinet develops positions based on policies adopted by Green Party membership.
In the early 1990s Greg Malone worked extensively with Health Canada on an initiative to improve attitudes and medical practices of medical professionals dealing with the AIDS crisis. As part of this initiative Mr. Malone produced a series of interactive videos called Sex Drugs and HIV.
“I’m delighted that Greg will be the party’s health critic,” said Ms. May. “His work advocating for improved health-care practices for AIDS patients is still relevant today. Also, Greg’s personal insights, gleaned from researching personal health issues, will provide valuable guidance on policy as we explore the connections between pesticide use in agriculture and health.”
Recently Mr. Malone has been working with NGOs such as the Coalition for Alternatives to Pesticides to reduce and eliminate the use of toxic substances in the environment, particularly in regard to agriculture and food security.

As a long-term survivor of Celiac disease and multiple allergies, I am looking forward to working with all Canadians to make this the healthiest, happiest and fittest population on the planet and driving down soaring health care costs in the process.”
