OTTAWA -- Federal Green Party Leader Elizabeth May (MP, Saanich-Gulf Islands) today congratulated her Alberta counterpart Cheryle Chagnon-Greyeyes and the 32 Green Party of Alberta candidates for their tremendous effort in the provincial election.
“Cheryle Chagnon-Greyes and her team did a fantastic job of getting the Green message out to voters,” said Ms. May. “Only the Greens understand that we face a climate emergency that will affect every aspect of community life from the economy, to health to employment. Continuing to support and subsidize a fossil fuel-based economy is pure folly.
“The Green message is resonating. A vibrant, healthy economy does not depend on a bitumen pipeline. In fact, the sustainable economy of the 21st century will create more good jobs than any pipeline ever could. And it will certainly offer our children and grandchildren a future.”
