Green Party of Canada welcomes doubling of PEI Greens’ caucus

(OTTAWA) – The Green Party of Canada expresses excitement over the opportunity for the PEI Greens to elect their second MLA, Hannah Bell, in the upcoming provincial by-election.

“I am so encouraged by Hannah Bell’s fabulous campaign in this by-election. I hope voters in District 11 will consider that voting Green will elect an ethical, committed and experienced community leader, while at the same time, elevating the level of debate and respect not only in PEI, but across Canada,” said Elizabeth May (MP, Saanich-Gulf Islands), Leader of the Green Party of Canada.

“Peter Bevan-Baker, Leader of the PEI Greens, is an inspiring politician and the Greens' sole MLA in the legislature. I know how challenging it is to cover all the issues, reach across party lines, and try to restore respect to Parliament. All the while, it is so difficult to find another MP to second my motions,” Ms. May continued.

“What a difference it will make for democracy in PEI when Peter Bevan-Baker has a strong MLA working with him in Hannah Bell. Together, Peter and Hannah will make more than twice the impact, putting principles above partisanship for the people of PEI. Once again, PEI – the cradle of Confederation – leads in Canadian democracy, ” Ms. May concluded.

Ms. May and Ms. Bell are attending a Meet and Greet this evening at bar1911 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM AST, to promote Ms. Bell’s campaign for the by-election.
