Statement on the third anniversary of the Lac-Mégantic tragedy

(OTTAWA) July 6, 2016 - "The people of Lac-Mégantic who mourn the 47 victims of the rail disaster three years ago and subsequent suicides call on the government to offer more than its best wishes of recovery. As long as dangerous trains travel through Lac-Mégantic, it will be difficult for the survivors of this tragedy to 'heal their wounds,'” said Daniel Green, Deputy Leader of the Green Party of Canada.

"The Green Party of Canada believes that the federal government needs to fund the railway bypass as soon as possible so that trains carrying dangerous goods will stop passing through downtown Lac-Mégantic," Mr. Green concluded.
