Green Party of Canada Statement on Green Party NS Resignation

The GPC learned today that Brynn Nheiley, interim leader of NS Greens, resigned in a blog post. Ms. Nheiley suggested the NS Greens provincial executive had also stepped down. Emily McMillan, Executive Director of the federal Green Party, released the following statement:

"We are currently trying to find information about what happened to prompt Ms. Nheiley's blog. We suspect it is simply growing pains as the provincial party has been seeking a new leader. We know there is real Green strength on the ground in Nova Scotia and we have been hearing from Green members that they want the provincial party to continue.

What is clear is that there was no process of dissolution conducted as mandated by the provincial party's constitution. So, it is much too early to say that the GPNS is no more; we expect this situation to be temporary.

The Green Party of Nova Scotia is a very important voice on behalf of critical issues including species at risk and protecting the Gulf of St. Lawrence."
