(VICTORIA) - Elizabeth May, Leader of the Green Party of Canada and Member of Parliament for Saanich – Gulf Islands, attended the campaign launch of Fran Hunt – Jinnouchi, candidate for Cowichan – Malahat – Langford and the Green Party’s Status of Women Critic, yesterday in Duncan, B.C.
“We can all learn from strong women like Fran Hunt-Jinnouchi, who takes every opportunity to amplify the unheard voices of her community and fight for social justice,” said Ms. May. “Now the people of Cowichan–Malahat–Langford have a special opportunity of their own-to elect Fran as their MP.”
“I’m so honoured to give Langford and the Cowichan Valley an opportunity to directly support Elizabeth's great work in Parliament,” said Ms. Hunt-Jinnouchi. “My vision for the region is one of sustainable prosperity and social equality. Fran Hunt-Jinnouchi campaign launch took place at the Quw’utsun’ Cultural and Conference Centre in Duncan, BC. The event featured a pledge auction and silent First Nations art auction.
Ms. Hunt-Jinnouchi’s campaign will also hold an open house in Duncan, B.C. Details for the campaign office open house will follow.

About Fran Hunt – Jinnouchi
Fran Hunt-Jinnouchi is the owner of Evedar’s Bistro in Langford, B.C. She was the former Chief of the Quatsino First Nation and former director of the Office of Indigenous Affairs at the University of Victoria. She also provides consulting and support services to Indigenous communities and organizations. Her work focuses on community development and reciprocal relationship building between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples/organizations.
