Statement by Green Leader Elizabeth May on the occasion of Ramadan:
“As Ramadan begins, everyone at the Green Party of Canada is sending their best wishes to Muslim communities at home and everywhere in the world. Ramadan is a festive time that is anticipated for months by Muslims everywhere.
“For so many Muslims around the world, Ramadan is also a time of deep reflection and sacrifice. It is a time when we are reminded of those less fortunate than us.
“In this spirit of charity, it is time to offer our help to those who need it the most. In the wake of the Lac-Mégantic tragedy, we can offer our support to victims by making a donation to the Red Cross here.
“I wish Muslims around the world a blessed month. Ramadan Kareem.”
