Multi-partisan press conference will mark the anniversary of Nelson Mandela’s death
(OTTAWA) - Elizabeth May, Leader of the Green Party of Canada and Member of Parliament for Saanich – Gulf Islands, will participate in a press conference with the Honourable Irwin Cotler - MP, NDP MP Tyrone Benskin, and Conservative MP Scott Reid on December 4, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. EST.
This multi-partisan press conference will mark the anniversary of Nelson Mandela’s death, as well as to speak out for three prisoners of conscience that are still imprisoned.
The prisoners of conscience are:
- Leopoldo López - Leader of the Official Opposition in Venezuela;
- Biram Dah Abeid – prominent anti-slavery figure in Mauritainia; and,
- Ayatollah Hossein Kazamani Boroujerdi – cleric in Iran who believes in the separation of church and state and is in desperate need of medical attention.
