Your local paper will often welcome your letter to the editor. For an op-ed piece, contact the newspaper first to see if they have upcoming space. Letters are short where op-eds can be a longer discussion. Your local paper may have word limits or other guidelines - check their websites or give them a call! If you can relate your letter to a recent article, great!
I was glad to see your recent article on electoral reform. Canada’s new government made a clear commitment during the 2015 election, and again during the Speech from the Throne, to make sure that every vote counts in the next election. This is an incredible opportunity to improve Canadian democracy -- making it more inclusive, representative, and fair. I’m waiting with excitement to see when the Liberals hold strong to their commitment to make every vote count.
