May Recognized for Lifelong Environmental Work

OTTAWA - The Green Party of Canada is proud to announce that Leader Elizabeth May, MP, Saanich-Gulf Islands, yesterday received a citation from the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society (CMOS) for her lifelong work promoting environmental issues and science. It was presented at CMOS’s congress in Saskatoon.

Accepting on Ms. May’s behalf were:  Dr. Gordon McBean, O.C., President-elect of International Council for Science; Chair, Canadian Climate Forum, Director of Policy for the Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction, and former ADM of Environment Canada, and Dr. Jim Bruce, O.C., an internationally renowned expert on water and climate who has held positions as Environment Canada Director and ADM; Acting Deputy Secretary General of the World Meteorological Organization, and Co-Chair of the Economic and Social Dimensions Working Group of the IPCC.
