The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has warned that we need to keep overall warming to less than 1.5 degrees Celsius or risk runaway global warming and climate catastrophe. Trudeau’s emissions reduction targets – inherited from the Harper government – will miss that vital goal.
If Canada wants to be a climate leader on the world stage, we must increase our reduction targets to a level that aligns with science. And we must do it at the global climate conference in Madrid next month.
