This motion is consistency with Green Party policy on government accountability. This motion will formalize a process already being used by Elizabeth May in publicly disclosing her MP expenses.

Preamble

WHEREAS the Green Party of Canada is committed to the principles of transparency, accountability, and openness in government;

WHEREAS restoring Canadians’ faith in their government would be aided immensely by the voluntary, full disclosure of how tax dollars are both allocated and spent;

WHEREAS Green Party Members of Parliament can model this behaviour by providing the Canadian public with voluntary, proactive, and comprehensive disclosures of their parliamentary and constituency expenses;

BE IT RESOLVED that sitting Members of Parliament for the Green Party of Canada will commit to disclosing their expenses incurred in carrying out their duties as Members of Parliament;

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this disclosure will be done in a timely and proactive manner, above and beyond existing parliamentary requirements;

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this disclosure, including online, will be done in a timely and proactive manner, above and beyond existing parliamentary requirements.
