The Green Party of Canada is seeking a highly-motivated, energetic individual to fill the position of interim Executive Director. The interim Executive Director is responsible for the operations of the Party, including staff management, annual planning and budgeting, campaign support, fundraising, membership development and services, financial management, communications and board support (Federal Council and advisory committees). The iED is not responsible for Party positions, policy, or political strategy but supports the Leader, Shadow Cabinet and Campaign Committee in these areas. The iED works closely with the Leader, Federal Council and others in the Party to formulate and achieve the Party’s goals and plans, and plays a leadership role within the Party.
Job Description
Position Title: Interim Executive Director
Nature of Position: Employee, full time, maternity leave (seven month contract)
Reporting to: Federal Council
Location: National Party Headquarters, Ottawa
Responsibilities:

Oversee operations of the Party including staff management, financial management, fundraising, and communications to the satisfaction of Federal Council

Maintain existing level of support for Federal Council, the Leader and Shadow Cabinet

Monitor and implement the Party’s annual plan and departmental workplans, ensuring targets and milestones are met appropriately

Monitor and ensure expenses and revenue are on budget

Report to Federal Council

Follow the job description of the permanent ED with a ‘caretaker’ mindset
Qualifications:
-
Proficiency in both official languages is desirable and an asset.

At least five years management experience
-
Political experience, including election campaigns

Experience working with volunteers and a Board of Directors

Project management skills

Understanding of ethical behaviour and business practices, ensuring that own behaviour and the behaviour of others is consistent with these standards and aligns with the values of the organization.

Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with others, both internally and externally, to achieve the goals of the organization.

Ability to communicate effectively, in a thorough and timely manner using appropriate and effective communication tools and techniques.
