David Peters was born and raised in St. John’s, Newfoundland. He received a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1985 and soon after began work with Newfoundland Telephone.
Finding further studies in Commerce not to his taste, David began taking night courses at Memorial throughout the 1990s, culminating in a Bachelor of Arts in in 1999 and a Master of Arts (Sociology) in 2003. Between 2007 and 2013 he taught undergraduate courses at Memorial as an adjunct faculty.
After a little more than 28 years with the telephone company, David is pursuing new horizons. He is a prolific musician with modest skill. He and his band mates in the TERRS play charity gigs in St. John’s. He is an enthusiastic supporter of several charities.
In 1992 he became reacquainted with an old friend from high school, which blossomed into romance and marriage to Gail Sullivan in 1993. Their son John was born in 1996 and daughter Ann was born in 1998.
The 2000s was a decade of intense parenting. David coached hockey and soccer teams, and made endless trips to and from piano, voice, dance, taekwondo and swimming lessons. It was a beautiful time, watching his cherished children come of age.
David has served on Federal Council as the Newfoundland and Labrador Representative since 2015.
