Tuesday, July 09, 2019 - 20:00 EDT

(8:00pm Eastern) Building a Successful Personal Brand during the ‘Green Wave’ of 2019: As the Green Wave sweeps Canada in the lead-up to the 2019 federal election, Green candidates – and especially young Green candidates – are in a historic position to build a personal narrative and brand message that capitalizes on this winning cultural moment. From the Green New Deal to the climate crisis, and with First Nations rights and youth movements gaining attention around the world, now is the time to connect your personal story and passion to the larger themes that are remaking Canadian politics for greater equality, sustainability and a better future.

In this webinar, we'll explore:

  • The generational shifts underway and how Green candidates can effectively tap into this new political energy
  • Effective messaging of Millennial and next-generation candidates who impacted the historic PEI election that formed North America's first Green Official Opposition
  • Key themes behind the headlines on 'the rise of the Greens' and how you can embody these values your campaign vision, story and messaging
  • Crafting a personal brand strategy that highlights your strengths and defuses the usual criticisms of young and new candidates as inexperienced or immature

Your host, Vanessa Scott, is a long-time community organizer specializing in campaign communications and messaging strategy. Scott worked as the campaign manager for six Charlottetown candidates in the recent Prince Edward Island provincial election, and is the campaign advisor to the Green Party's Vancouver-Centre 2019 federal campaign. She has partnered with environmental groups across British Columbia and is working with Green New Deal coalitions and the Sunrise Movement in the US to share messaging around anti-fossil fuel narratives, climate disaster impacts, and media and community engagement strategies. She has coached candidates on two coasts, hosted dialogue sessions about polarized natural resource conflicts, helped facilitate common ground among differing viewpoints, and is passionate about effective storytelling
