Thanksgiving and more!

Elizabeth May

Managed to have wonderful train station rallies in Moncton, Truro and the largest in Halifax over the holiday weekend. Lots of media and a great chance to have quick visit with party members, supporters and old friends!

I also managed to have excellent meetings with First Nations Chiefs, Chief Lawrence Paul of Milbrook and Chief Tony of Cambridge Station, and with the African Canadian Loyalist community of Lincolnville that is fighting an expanded land fill.

Tuesday was a day of maximizing multi-tasking! I had an hour long radio interview with popular Halifax call-in radio host Rick Howe, a quick drive to the Annapolois Valley to meet Chief Tony, and then a speech at Acadia University. It was already a pretty packed schedule as we had to double back to Halifax for an evening speech at Dalhousie -- but then we heard that Prime Minister Harper had a "big announcement" on his Green Plan ...

So the rest of the day became a juggling exercise of how many more interviews could we squish in. I did Le Soleil from Wolfville, wrote an opinion piece for the Globe and Mail in the car driving back (no, I wasn't the driver!), got to CTV Halifax studios in time for a live national hit on the Mike Duffy show, with Jane Taber, guest-hosting, a quick interview with CTV in British Columbia, live CBC Ottawa radio, a quick interview with the Toronto Star and then live commercial Montreal Radio.

Squeezed in a quick chat with John Ibbitson at the Globe as I raced for the law school where a good crowd was patiently waiting for my lecture on women in politics. Following the Dal address, went to a youth Green Party gathering at the home of a number of Dal students (all friends of mine) with only one interview left on my schedule. 9:40 pm to Calgary radio -- when SURPRISE, more CTV cameras showed up for the youth party, plus This Hour has 22 Minutes with their "teenage"
Correspondent "Mark." A very talented comedian actually named Gavin.

Very happy that my opinion piece was coherent, as I discovered while reading it in this morning's Globe and Mail!
