To Answer Len Gold: Greens' perspective on reducing crime

We need to act on organized crime by giving police and prosecutors access to forensic accounting and tax returns.  Al Capone went to jail for tax evasion.  Cops always know who the gangs are in any town. Building more jails does not help build a case against criminals.



Every police chief I meet says they would give a big chunk of their budget to have better early childhood education and better recreation and activities for adolescents.



The crime rate is going down.  There is no criminologist who thinks the nonsense about "tough on crime" makes any sense.
