So, this election we had 41 candidates get 60% of their election costs back by cracking the magic 10% marker (plus many who were painfully close such as Jen Hunter and Brent Bouteiller who both were at 9.9%).
Last election, for reference, we had 8 ridings with 10% or more, the best result being Shane Jolley in Owen Sound, Ontario with 12.9%. A figure that was beaten by 14 Green's this time. We are making progress and more and more Canadians are noticing. With a concentrated effort during by-elections and on planning for the next federal election (I suspect next fall) we will gain more influence and will force change. Eventually we will be the balance of power party at which point we can directly force change, but for now we'll have to concentrate on encouraging changes from outside the House.

184 times Greens came in 4th (1.4% to 18.3% of the vote). 73 times we came in 5th (mainly in Quebec - 2% to 7.7% of the vote). Our worst result was a 6th place finish (Quebec behind the big 4 and an independent getting just 1.6% of the vote). 1.4% was the lowest vote percentage in any riding that we contested. For reference, in 2000 we had 0.81% overall.

addition
thanks for doing this - very useful.
in part 2 you can also add Okanagan Shuswap - we finished 3rd, beating the Liberals by almost 5,000 votes and just behind the NDP by 1,300 votes!
Okanagan-Shuswap
Okanagan--Shuswap: Huguette Allen 17.3% is listed up there as coming in 3rd.
The list is a bit confusing as it is in the order that Elections Canada put them in.
A great achievement out there after a 4th place result last time with just 4.08% of the vote, moving to more than 4 times the percentage of last time. A very good news story and I doubt you spent anywhere near what the others did (the big 3 all blew over $30k last election according to Wikipedia).
