Two Elizabeth ballots in two days

Two days, two Conservative fliers in my mailbox. Both with the soon-to-be-famous Elizabeth May ballot. Below is today's; I blogged about the other one yesterday here: http://www.greenparty.ca/en/node/6368

And of course, why fight the poverty that leads to crime when you can spank criminals after the fact for more satisfying vengeance?

Waste of money

The Tories seem to have a lot of tax payers money to waste on these mailouts.

You know what galls me the most about all this?

Crime is going DOWN!!!

Fearmongering without an ounce of facts behind them. At least some of you get to live in provinces where the provincial govt. and/or the media aren't of the same ilk. The only relief I get from all of this is OCCASIONAL bright spots in my city council.

A new record for taxpayer paid Conservative advertising

Today, from my post office box, I picked up 4 separate fliers that had been delivered at taxpayer expense. To me, this is a clear indication that the Conservative party MP's fail utterly to understand the difference between their role within a political party and their role as the public servants who govern the country. To use government funds to send out this blatant campaign material is abuse and should be considered criminal. I hope the voters will hold each and every MP accountable for this waste of taxpayer dollars.

Too much waste to post

I scanned and posted the first four I received (in less than 2 weeks), but there were 3 more since then, for a total of 7 in 3 weeks. It got to be too much to bother scanning and posting. It's mind-boggling how these Harpercrits can spend so much public money electioneering yet people still think they're somehow morally or ethically superior to the Liberals. They're showing that they're just as corrupt under Harpoon as they were under Muldoon. At this point they are saturating all of Ontario just to avoid being accused of what they're really doing - trying to influence the by-election votes. It's time to get Greens in there instead - the one good thing about these fliers is that all of them feature Elizabeth May as one of 3 ballot choices. (I wonder what the ballot looks like in Quebec - if they are using any there).

My cynical assessment of the fake ballot on the Con ads

Although the ballot on the taxpayer paid advertising for the Conservatives has Elizabeth as one of the choices, I do not think that this is a magnanimous gesture by the government in reaction to rising voter preference. Rather, I think that the Conservatives are of the belief that promoting the Greens will lead to an erosion of Liberal support. The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

CPC Mistake

If the CPC thinks Green votes only come from Liberals then they are making a major tactical error. I voted PC, Reform, and even Alliance in the past hoping for a fiscally sane government. When I finally decided to check out the Greens after seeing them get a fair number of votes one election I was surprised to see many of the policies I believed in. Tax things you don't want to occur while removing taxes from things you want. A clear plan on how to do things, on how to move government from controlling things directly to doing it more indirectly (taxes, incentives, etc.) as the private sector tends to do the day-to-day running of business far better than government and taxes/incentives will help push them to do it cleaner and safer. These are things that people who vote CPC tend to honestly believe in and that makes the Green Party the natural place for frustrated Conservatives who feel they cannot vote Liberal (who shift positions with the direction of the wind) or NDP (far too pro-big government and memories of the Bob Rae era in Ontario) and no longer trust Harper (biggest budgets ever, raised taxes on the lowest income groups, lied about income trusts, and that isn't touching the issues with environment/arts/Insite/etc.).

Lets get those CPC voters over here to the place they belong. Lets bring over the NDP'ers who believe in a better environment (current NDP doesn't appear to give it more than lip service). Liberal voters ... well ... not sure why they vote that way so not sure how we'd get them over here (like voting for winners maybe? Must be New York Yankee fans).

Well said Mr Northey!

So true!

I for one just don't understand how being in government ends up turning all these people into complete hypocrites...yes...as one who actually remembers statements made by these people.

No offence to anyone but I believe that what harper is doing ...well one could get away with it all as a liberal.....but as a conservative ????
Don't think so......they seem a lot more memory equipped.
It started at ......
"No I wont move in to stornaway" ...hahaha

I think yes you are very correct and that we will get a very large number of "Progressive" conservatives as well.

Cheers All
