Debunking the marijuana myth thread is missing ...WHY ??????
Greetings,
Houston we may have a problem.
I am asking anyone who knows ......why this thread is missing .....why it would be missing and who would be responsible for it being gone and I for one sure hope it isn't why I think as I am pretty proud of our BC 18% polling and to be honest will be waiting with baited breath over this one..........
Not now ...why now .....how silly ....
I sure hope we are now not so full of our selves and our poll numbers that we think we can afford to just throw away some of us. A big group of us actually.
The baby with the bath water now is going to show up sooner rather than later.
We don't or I don't have time for more ndp style games.
I hope this is just an over sight or I did something wrong looking , which I don't quite believe. It wasn't over a year old either so to expire or something and this is why I left the NDP and I hope I am now not having deja vu.
I certainly hope some of you do not under estimate how hard some of us are actually working for the Greens and how hopeful some were and how much this missing thread can cost the Greens just for the optics....really.
I can say with all confidence that Jack Layton is very thankful to whoever's fears did this .....right now.
Cheers

Cannabis is a Green issue that is growing the party
Hi
It is missing from where it is important the all time blogs.
I have been spreading this link to many , many places, websites and people.
I say again I am concerned.
I do thank you for trying to help , though.
It just cant stay that way without some explanation in my view as we will look like we just shot our own foot off to , by some estimates around 3 million people.
This is more of a problem for me just in the tone it sends out.

I know what you mean
I had a blog that was in the top 2 pages of the "most read past 30 days" and got dumped too. I didnt care enough to make a fuss over it though. It apears that there may be a limited shelf life in the "Most Read", maybe the same is affecting "all time" as well. I figure it is just a software glitch?

Craig,
Mine was droped a while ago well before the recent changes. Still no biggie to me. I do like the new system though.
Excellent format changes
The blog format changes are excellent... well done.

Federal Marijuana Party to run AGAIN???? Its possible
Greetings,
Even this thread doesn't show in the 24 hour log because it apparently didn't get enough votes?
Unsavory in nature is hopefully not the reason?
Censorship is still censorship no matter what you call it.
I have received calls now for a whole day over the missing thread and even just the cowardice shown over the "conservative bashing the Greens on the cannabis policy" thread that Jim Harris started , where we were even afraid to just put cannabis in the title.
I have just gotten off the phone with Mr Cantin and Mr Harris to check into it.
The ndp through libby davies and others are drooling at this stumble of ours.
Some of the people I am involved with take it as a fimiliar type slap and are very interested in meeting with libby and the ndp to see their new plan and abandoning the Greens because they were still hopeful in layton.
I just came back from a self financed Calgary trip where people came from all around that province to speak to me about our supposed cannabis policy(green).
The outcome of the meeting was all of them are joining the Greens (even some will run in Alberta provincially/federally) and all are going to get all other cannabis voters on board. All came from the ndp.
Mr Harris just assured me this is just a software cliche and that it will be corrected.
(copied and posted on Cannabis Network)
To all of you against our cannabis policy I would ask you to all look at the polls especially BC and be assured that to us the environment starts at our eye lashes and these people will not stay with another cowardly group of politicians....PERIOD !! After laytons horrendous mistake it would be completely stupid of us Greens for repeating it!!!
Cheers

Post ranking is not censorship
"Even this thread doesn't show in the 24 hour log because it apparently didn't get enough votes?"
Apparently. It's called democracy - hence the need for votes.
"Unsavory in nature is hopefully not the reason?"
The reason doesn't really matter. Each person has the right to vote based on whatever reason they choose. I tend to vote down poorly-written or irrelevent posts.
"Censorship is still censorship no matter what you call it."
If the participants of these blogs choose to rank some discussions highly and make the more visible, while putting others at the bottom of the stack, that's not censorship - it's participatory democracy. Censorship is preventing people from accessing information, it's not downlisting something.
I'm disappointed that this module has (apparently) been turned off. I think it was a good compromise. I wonder now what effect, if any, my voting down (or up) has on how blogs are displayed.

Why not just remove the blogs then?
Greeting Greens,
I thought I was joining something new.
Something exciting.
Something honest and open.
Not full of Roberts Rules and little gangs.
We already have lists here of these posts .....nothing wrong with a history of posts. I just wanted to keep the second highest one !(and the one not linked to a place like digg)....seems odd you have a problem with that.
With your thumb work you can keep all your favorites up top.
With your quoting of my comments I just have to say I am passionate about justice and freedom and at times opinionated ......other times I am asleep.
I met Elizabeth May and I believed her.
I met Elizabeth May and I believed her. In case you missed that.
Why I am here is more to do with 20 year old Green Justice Policy than the environment you may be thinking of but it is an environment to me all the same. Green policy that provides real security for the first time since 1923 certainly since 1972 when Nixon kicked everyone up a notch and certainly over where Harper plans on taking us.
I am tired of thugs running around with hand guns paid for by tax free gains with harmless contraband.
The whole Drug War?
It is more important than some may believe simply because of personal choice and unrecognized citizenship.
In my long struggle I have seen and heard almost any thing any of my opponents could say.
It is fine to show you thumbs down....means little to me outside of a nagging feeling of my failing to communicate better.
If we are no different we wont attract the voters we are saying we are after.
Our policies will I guarantee you create a large rise in the turn out at the polls.
There has been no reason to vote for many , many citizens for a very long time...........even if some like it that way.
People that haven't voted for years will be lined up.
If you think going to the public with just the environment ( i know that sounds wrong but with the rest all turning Irish you will understand quickly in the campaign)
and not adding more issues like what myself and many others have been working to tell our people (and we the Greens have actually had as policy for 20 years) .....and thousands more around the Internet and in coffee shops and union halls and in schools .......that we the Greens aren't the same old ,same old .....we will do things differently...honestly ...compassionately .....that we will be a sane voice to all problems in Canada...for all Canadians...... sorry...but I think differently.
Like people should "really " come first ...and we should have clean food and water guaranteed..no more experimental poisons for profit... not just "politics as usual" any more.
I am a bridge builder not a burner ....I don't vote threads down... I encourage exchange and try to grow in my view of things from listening to you others on many of the other issues.
Your thoughts are not my philosophy ....sorry I am not going any where until I am convinced we are as common place as the other political parties as you seem to want to have me believe we should be.
Thanks for your thoughts even if we disagree.
That's allowed in the Green Party I belong to ...don't you know?
Cheers

Why not be constructive?
There is no need to assume I am attacking you or disagreeing with your policy focus. I never even said I had voted against your posts, and I've certainly not suggested we focus only on one issue. (I've been a strong supporter of legalization and hemp since long before I was a Green Party member, and I support the whole spectrum of our policy base.) Legalization was an explicit part of the two GPC platforms I've happily run on as candidate.
But that's beside the point. The party is experimenting with different ways to set up member-driven ranking of posts to increase the value of this blog to members. Personally, I find that quite exciting, honest, and open - not "Robert's Rules" or "little gangs". Nothing gives you the right to impose your blog above others if the readers want to rank it lower. If you want a higher ranking, write your posts more carefully, better structured, or more persuasivly. No-one wants to read whining. Your topic is quite important and compelling and controversial and deserves quality discussion. So aim for that - I think you'll be pleased with the results. Paranoid ravings that you're being censored or unfairly treated merely because of the topic will feed right into a certain stereotype I'm sure you'd rather avoid.
Peace,
Erich Jacoby-Hawkins

I agree, but...
Erich, one of my posts was also among the 'disappeared,' though it was the most viewed in that 24-hour period. Most of the media sites like Digg and Reddit have options to view both the most viewed and the highest rated. For a political party it is dangerous to drop the most-viewed posts, even if unpopular. They expose people to alternate points-of-view, not simply the most popular. They also give the leadership a feel for what's going on inside the rank-and-file.
And sometimes, what is popular changes very rapidly. Note the surprising success of Ron Paul in the United States: Love him or hate him (there seems to be no inbetween), he is changing the course of dialogue there - I think for the better, even though I find many of his ideas wacky or downright dangerous.

Our blog site will continue to evolve and be fine tuned
Our blog site is evolving and as we move forward we will continue to fine tune it.
The software is continually evolving too -- and we will implement new modules going forward.
In this particular case we implemented a blog module that took posts that had received below 50% approval rating out of the most read rankings. They were still on the web site but not just on the rankings. For instance the one John refers to -- http://www.greenparty.ca/en/node/707 -- is still present on the GPC web site click on the link above and you'll find it completely intact.
After consulting with a few people we're going to turn that module off -- so that post with lower rankings re-appear in the rankings. Expect them to re-appear by midnight tonight.
Jim
Thank you for addressing this very important concern!!
I for one know we have less popular issues within the Greens and that we must stand by all our brothers with their battles over less savory issues because yes we are Greens.
The cannabis issue is to us here in BC , outside the obvious environmental issue , Number 1.
To us it is very important that we do not alienate parts of our group at this point with an election coming.
We are hard working members motivated by much more than some here realize and as such wont let the Green Party down. We are very testy because of the wasted 4 years in the ndp and don't have the stomach to repeat that again with the Greens.
The ndp want to get us back as libby davies is working with my ex partner in eNDProhibion(their un official marijuana party wing)
I hope we can do what our policy says we will do and not just look stupid to more than 3 million Canadians the way layton has done with the ndp.
He started at 25% in the polls and because of us in our view only now polling 12%.
Any that don't see what I am saying please contact me personally and I will give you more than enough information to clear up any misunderstanding.
I will be meeting with Mr. Harris Feb 11-13th here in Vancouver and will advise all ex Marijuana people about this important meeting. Stay tuned and stay working for us the Green Party as we will not turn cowardly like the ndp.
I at least promise.
One last point it seems we are to look for the arrows at the top each posting and start clicking the up arrow (obviously)to not look like our issue is irrelevant here.
Join the party !!....sign up all your friends !! ...get on here and tell your story to help these other Green Party Members understand why we want to help in the fight to restore sane policy in Canadian politics....PLEASE !
Maybe then they will be more likely to stand true to their policy and their word and stop the travesties we all know are happening.
Cheers

How many that voted it down here..... noticed this?
Greetings Greens,
WOW ...a negative 4 votes ....from our members so far here ....so I thought I should maybe respond to obviously try and change the view here.
Was it just my way of asking or just my way of explaining why I cared.... that caused the - 4 vote ?
Was it because some are actually afraid of the issue?
Or that some Greens don't really want the Greens to even have this issue?
Care to help me see?
To me it is very important .....the issue.... AND by the way this Blog Tool to the public as well.
Very many Canadian voters are checking us out and will see that we are worthy of their votes in fact .....partially because of our Blogs.
As I said I appreciate it being reversed ...the decision about less savory posts just being dropped ....and will just point out something else some of you critical Greens may not understand.
We are different than other parties as Joe Public can yes actually come here and view our thoughts on important issues and see we have zero to hide and see what we do in fact think is important.
No other party does this that I am aware of.
I of course understand why......if you cant dazzle them with intelligent thought ....bamboozle them with bullshit...ever try to see the other parties policy like VISION GREEN ??? Try it.
I have this site linked all over Canada at sites most prone to attract NEW Green Members.
The new system is still obviously full of bugs it seems and some may just consider me whining I think and obviously I am unconcerned about that or how some may see my view on other things here....sorry.
I had originally argued a couple of things to make my point on not only just that threads removal (debunking the marijuana myths).....like just the obvious ......when you look up and actually read our own sites headings.
I don't like looking like I am being antagonistic and I know our Tech Team is very busy with the Bi-elections and only showing this point because of the negative voting going on about my thread here ....now.
I argued the wording even with Jim Harris about his own thread post about the conservatives ,us Greens and the cannabis issue and it resulted in the word marijuana being added to that thread.
This thread....
http://www.greenparty.ca/en/node/2990
We should give the viewer what we promise and obviously what they DO WANT TO READ OBVIOUSLY !
I started arguing another point after about 1500 hits came to that same thread in the last month (with the word marijuana now added)(and its gone up from page 3 or 4 to page number 1)......and still only one Green Member now doesn't just think me an idiot and only further whining........hahhaaha thanks Craig!
If you look at the top of this page .... it says ""most read in 24 hours"".... well that makes sense .....""the most read in 30 days""" .....""Top Blogs""...etc
After a heated exchange where I was frustrated that no one was getting my point and obviously because of this frustration probably being confusing in my aggressive manner at explaining my issue and that I guess didn't get my point across well enough...well I thankfully received this from that great Green Party Web Master Mr. Craig Cantin.
Again thank you Craig !!
""" After looking at the 30-day page more closely, I think there is a glitch.
If you look at ALL of the blog postings on that page, not a single one is more than 30 days old(!!!)
So, you found something that the previous manager didn't see (who built the module), or myself, or 10's of thousands of visitors. """""
So I hope all of you do now understand a little bit more of why I say what I say and maybe we can stop voting against standing up just to perceived censorship .....whether it just be a simple mistake or not....... as we all share in the credibility (or lack of credibility) of the Canadian Green Party.
Cheers
