Upwind Downwind 2008: Climate Change & Heathly Cities Conference

The Clean Air Committee chaired by Dr. Brian McCarry, Professor, Department of Chemistry and Stephen A. Jarislowsky Chair in Environment and Health at McMaster University, is hosting an international conference about Climate Change and the Health of our Cities.

The conference runs from Monday Feb. 25 to Tuesday Feb. 26 at the Hamilton Convention Center and features international speakers, local experts, government agencies, universities and representatives from the cities of Hamilton, London, Guelph, Burlington, and the region of Halton.

The Conference provides meaningful information on current air quality and climate change issues and an opportunity for open discussion between planners, public health officials, policy makers, environmental managers, community groups, non-governmental organizations, industry, academics and politicians in a small conference multi-stakeholder environment.

I encourage all greens who have the time and resources to attend this event. The Clean Air Committee is well supported by all three levels of government and does appear to have some influence.

Stephen Brotherston, Nominated Candidate for Hamilton Mountain and Peter Ormond, running to be the Candidate in the Ancaster, Dundas, Flamborough, Westdale riding on Feb. 6 will be in attendance.

The conference also features a "Clean Air Trade Fair". The ridings in Hamilton have reserved a booth during the fair to promote the Green Party.
