William Hamilton - Calgary Centre Green Party Candidate
As posted to Calgary-Centre Green Party candidate website.
I make my living as a communications consultant and small business owner from a home office in Calgary’s Beltline Communities. In my line of work, communicating with people is critical to my success. On any given day, I’m writing opinion pieces for local dailies, recruiting and co-ordinating volunteers for community open houses, or teaching second- language learners how to express themselves, but my job is clear and simple: Give people the information they need to make the right decision. Give people the tools to finish the job.
Just as importantly, I am an advocate for better transit and for a more liveable, sustainable Calgary. My background on municipal issues, inner-city living, and transportation policy helps me understand your priorities as a voter in Calgary–Centre, because I believe in the future of this city, and I appreciate the strength and vibrancy of our communities. Whether I’m writing reports on light rail development strategies, standing before City Council to talk about transit issues, or working with people sharing a passion for making transit second nature, I understand how far Calgary’s transit system has come and how far it has to go.
And I understand how sorely we need a voice in Parliament that gets transit.
If you want to work in a smart economy, live in strong communities, and speak in a true democracy, I want to work with you to make these ideals a reality in Calgary–Centre. But I’m going to need your help. And I hope I will earn your support and your vote on May 2 as your Green Party of Canada candidate for Parliament.
