Seeking accountability on tanks is 'inappropriate'
I called my MP (Gary Lunn) the other day to find out who should be held accountable for the $189 million dollars that was spent to send 17 tanks to Afghanistan - the tanks that can't be used in the summertime because they will be too hot inside. It seems I touched a bit of a nerve. Gary's staffer Logan got very testy, refused to answer the question, saying that it was 'inappropriate'! I guess we're supposed to assume that the Conservatives are above reproach when it comes to how our money is being spent.
I suppose the buck stops with poor old Gordon O'Connor - it was him that gave me the figure on the cost of deploying the tanks - but then we also know that Steve has to okay all of the big decisions, so maybe it was him. It seems the 'Steve is so smart' myth is starting to fray a bit...

Maybe I too should pester
Maybe I too should pester him on this issue. Or how the earthquake hazards program at the GSC is slowly falling apart due to lack of funding and apathy towards sciences. Did you know there is a fault that runs right through Greater Victoria, and there is no funding to find out whether or not this fault is active? Who is accountable if there is a large earthquake in our backyard, and no one looked to find out what the hazard level was?
