Elizabeth May congratulates Mike Schreiner and Ontario Greens on a hard-fought campaign

OTTAWA – Elizabeth May, Leader of the Green Party of Canada and MP for Saanich–Gulf Islands, today congratulates Mike Schreiner, Leader of the Ontario Greens, and all the other Green candidates on a principled and hard-fought campaign in the Ontario election.

“The Ontario Greens were a much-needed voice of optimism in the midst of a bitterly cynical election,” said May. “Throughout this election, the Greens were the only party willing to get past the hyper-partisanship and mud-slinging and talk about real issues, like climate change and democratic reform."

May conveyed particular thanks to Mike Schreiner, Leader of the Green Party of Ontario, who ran in the riding of Guelph.

“Mike brought forward original and innovative policies, he campaigned with honesty and integrity, and he gave Ontario voters a meaningful opportunity to voice their dissatisfaction with politics as usual,” said May. “I am so thankful for all his hard work and dedication.”
