Young Greens cross the line
Today, Canadian media in cities across the country got their first taste of the new campaign to bring out the Canadian youth vote: Follow the Green Line. Despite rain and even hail, Young Greens were out laying down chalk at newspaper offices and broadcast studios in Victoria, Vancouver, Calgary, Ottawa, Toronto Guelph, Kitchener-Waterloo and Montreal.
“The youth vote is building up momentum in 2011. The vote mobs are in the streets, and we’re going to give them a line to follow right to the ballot box,” said Scott Baker, National Coordinator for the Young Greens of Canada.
In cities across Canada, Young Greens have enough green chalk to draw a 668-kilometre line – long enough to go all the way up the 401 from Toronto to Montreal and a bit beyond. This Friday they will carpet cities with lines leading to advance polling stations.
Young supporters all across Canada are helping to bring a positive line to politics, a line that stretches from social media sites to the pavement in front of the polls. On YouTube the Young Greens have launched a powerful new video calling on youth to pick up the chalk.
