Green Party Supports Bloc Quebecois Motion
OTTAWA - The Green Party of Canada expressed support of the Bloc Québécois Motion on Copenhagen. “The Bloc Québécois are absolutely right that we must not go empty-handed to Copenhagen. Voting in favour of this motion this week would show other international leaders that Canada is ready to be a contributor to a meaningful agreement that protects our future,” said Green Leader Elizabeth May. Ms. May continued, “The urgency of the climate crisis demands a non-partisan approach. In that spirit, I am also gratified that I will not be the only federal party leader from Canada in Copenhagen. Jack Layton has confirmed he will attend as well. I urge Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff to vote for the Bloc bill, get C-311 back to the House for a vote, and to attend the climate negotiations.”
“We applaud any Party that promotes the Canada we support, regardless of their political stripe,” said Joe Foster, Green Human Rights Critic.
