John Streicker

Hi Green Party Folk,

As members, each of us joined the Green Party with a vision of creating a more lasting and vibrant future for Canada and beyond. After many years, we have succeeded in electing our first MP - a significant step. Federal Council and all of us as a party now have work to do in order to help navigate the way forward.

The role of Council is to govern the Party and will include building us at the riding level, becoming self-sustaining in fundraising and working to enhance the role Elizabeth has already been establishing in Parliament. All three of these fronts require the participation of our members. A key role of Council will be to find a way to connect with members, and to help build ridings and regional groups.

This is on top of the existing agenda and challenges of governing a political party. So the role of the new Executive will be important. I sense that there is a clear opportunity to build and strengthen the Green Party of Canada.
