Get on board the Green Train for the journey of a lifetime – travelling Canada by rail, from coast to coast.

On July 11, join Elizabeth May and your fellow Greens for the journey to Fredericton for the Green Party of Canada 2014 Convention, aboard VIA Rail’s legendary Canadian and Ocean routes.

The trip will include dozens of whistle stops, including Jasper, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto and Montreal. At each stop, you will have the opportunity to be a part of the energy and excitement of this historic cross-country journey.

Elizabeth May, Bruce Hyer and other environmental leaders will address crowds of Green supporters at rallies in towns and cities across the country, as we build momentum on the way to our 2014 Convention.

There’s no shortage of fun things to do in Canada’s largest city during the summer! Visit the Toronto Islands or one of Toronto’s many beaches, the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Royal Ontario Museum, or any number of other fun and exciting attractions!

NOTE: Overnight accommodations in Toronto are not included in the VIA Rail fare, those continuing on to the Convention are required to make their own accommodation arrangements.    

  

Wednesday, July 16, 2014 – TORONTO TO MONTREAL

9:25 AM: Green Train departs from Toronto

 

Eastern Ontario Green Train Rallies – 

Between Toronto and Montreal, there will be four brief whistle stop rallies. Stops on this route are 2-3 minutes; the duration of rallies will be adjusted accordingly.

Keep an eye on the Green Train page, as we’ll constantly be updating information as it becomes available.

Thursday, July 17 – NEW BRUNSWICK

11:31 AM: Arrive in Miramichi, NB

Green Train passengers will continue on to Fredericton via Charter Bus

  

1:30 PM: Arrive at UNB Fredericton for Convention 2014 



For Covention delegates taking the train for their return trip, there will also be a Charter Bus back to the VIA Station in Miramichi. The bus will be provided at an additional cost of $25 per person per trip ($50 round trip)

Green Train passengers will have the opportunity to broaden their knowledge, engage in insightful discussions, and spend time with fellow Greens while on the train across Canada. 

Bring a musical instrument, a favourite book, and don't forget your Green gear for the whistle stop rallies!

Is your Electoral District Association preparing for the next federal election? Would you like to learn more about how to run a successful campaign from experienced Greens? Join Green Campaign Managers, Organizers and Candidates to learn the Do’s and Don’ts of a winning campaign.

 
 

Green Discussion Groups - 

Discussions on a wide range of current issues will take place on the Vancouver–Toronto and Montreal–Miramichi legs of the tour, with Green MPs Elizabeth May and Bruce Hyer leading the conversation.
