Nicole Peltier is on a mission to bring honesty, integrity, and common sense policy back to Ottawa. She is committed to the riding of Nipissing—Timiskaming and wants to enact change by diversifying the economy, fostering youth entrepreneurship, supporting local businesses, alleviating childhood poverty, and protecting prime farmland and source drinking water in the North.

Nicole has entered the political sphere as a permanent resident of North Bay, a student, an entrepreneur, and as a mother with concerns about the ineffectiveness of the current government. Nicole cares passionately about the economic, social, and environmental health of Northern Communities.

She is currently an Environmental Geography student at Nipissing University. Since 2011, she has successfully run her own business while managing the responsibilities of being a single-parent of two wonderful children.

Originally from Huntsville, Nicole moved to North Bay in 2007 to pursue her education. She has been an active community member, having volunteered with Amelia Rising, St. John’s Ambulance, North Bay Snowmobile Speed Runs, Nipissing University’s Peace Research Institute (NUPRI), and First Lego League.

In 2013, she created a student club called BASE (Backing Action for a Sustainable Earth) at Nipissing University. BASE works to promote waste reduction, accountability, good policy, and a healthy, vibrant student life on campus. In the new semester, a new student club will be her focus called Young Greens of Nipissing. The group will partake in positive community engagement on local issues, such as the promotion of renewable energy opportunities.

It is important to Nicole that she is involved in the development of her community. Stable, long-term growth for Nipissing depends on good government policy being enacted today. In this very moment, we are facing a monumental opportunity for growth, there is so much potential to build on the sustainable economy and create additional prosperity. The District of Nipissing, Ontario, and Canada as a whole, would benefit from the economic stability, social responsibility, and environmentally sustainable platform the Green Party puts forward.

The Green Party of Canada is excited to have Nicole Peltier as our candidate in the riding of Nipissing—Timiskaming.
