Niagara Falls

Steven Soos currently studies at Trent University, where he is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in International Development, due to be completed in September 2015. No stranger to politics, Steven was a candidate for the City of Welland Council in the 2014 civic election, and a provincial nomination candidate for the riding of Peterborough. Steven currently works in the financial sector, and is a former Social Enterprise Coordinator for the Welland Heritage Council and Multicultural Centre.

Steven has served one term as an appointee to the City of Peterborough’s Community Investment Grants Advisory Committee, where he was responsible for social service and environmental funding applications. Steven has recently been appointed as the Business Representative for the Welland Transit Advisory Committee, and is serving his first term. Additionally, Steven has served as an intern for both legal firms and constituency offices, and has also lived in the Farmland Bateys of the Dominican Republic.

Steven has a solid record as a student leader, whether as a Trent University Ambassador or a Department Representative for Trent’s International Development Program, Steven has worked tirelessly to represent his school and fellow students. Steven is also a former radio talk show host, and had his own show called True Politics, which aired on 92.7 FM.

Steven is passionate about easing the financial burden on post-secondary students, ensuring the creation of a new national housing and poverty alleviation strategy, creating a national childcare plan, enacting polluter-pays legislation, restoring the retirement age to 65, and restoring health care transfer cuts.

Steven looks forward to meeting and working with the constituents of Niagara Falls over the coming weeks and months, and working to best represent the issues that matter to them.

The Green Party of Canada is excited to have Steven Soos as our candidate in the riding of Niagara Falls.
