Etobicoke Centre

Shawn Rizvi graduated with honours from the Business & Society program at York University. Born and raised in Etobicoke, Ontario he grew up in a humble family of three brothers while being raised by a single mother.

During his university career, Shawn helped to lead and motivate over 1600 students to join a proactive and positive student movement dedicated to bringing awareness to human rights issues. While also being an advocate for international human rights, he has been a strong voice in favour of furthering the economic standing points of Canadian minorities and the vulnerable middle class.

Shawn’s passion for volunteerism and community involvement has led him to support over twenty charities, and travel to multiple countries on humanitarian missions representing Canada, including an orphanage in Tanzania.

Professionally, Shawn is currently a management consultant and efficiency expert working towards adding multiple designations including the PMP and Six Sigma Green belt to his already impressive resume.

To date, Shawn has worked across multiple industries and across multiple organizations including with IBM and EDC, where in total he has eliminated over 2.5 million dollars in waste from the private sector.

An advocate of better socioeconomic conditions for the middle class and minorities, he is focused on increased sustainability for all Canadians from an environmental, social and economic perspective, and he believes improving efficiency is the best way to do it.

Outside of his professional and academic endeavours, Shawn is actively engaged with at-risk neighbourhoods in his community, working with local after-school programs, community centres, and summer camp programs to provide mentorship and motivation to youth.

The Green Party of Canada is excited to have Shawn Rizvi as our candidate in the riding of Etobicoke Centre.
