Green Party will work to restore democracy in the next Parliament

(VICTORIA) Tonight, in front of a packed Town Hall in Victoria, B.C. Elizabeth May, Leader of the Green Party of Canada (Saanich – Gulf Islands), stated the Green Party is the best choice to restore democracy.

“Sending Green MPs to Ottawa this fall is the best way to repair our democracy and create a government that works for Canadians. The Green Party always places the best interests of constituents, before the party.”

“Other parties require their MPs to vote the way the leader demands, but the Green Party does not whip votes.”

“A government should represent the will of the people,” continued Ms. May. “We need to end the first-past-the-post voting system and false majorities, and create a voting system where all Canadians have a voice in our government.”

“It’s clear that Canadians are ready for a new style of government,” stated Jo-Ann Roberts, candidate (Victoria). “Canadians want a government that is respectful, collaborative, and represents their interests and values.”

“Green MPs will bring a much-needed change to Parliament this fall,” concluded Roberts.
