(OTTAWA) - The Green Party is calling on all Canadians to tell the Globe and Mail there is an alternative to the oil economy. An alternative that must be discussed in the Globe’s Leaders’ Debate.
Canadian voters won’t hear about the Green Party’s proposals for a Sustainable Generations Fund, abolishing tuition fees, or partnering with First Nations to sustainability develop natural resources, without Elizabeth May at the podium in Calgary on Thursday. The Green Party platform offers concrete, job-creating alternatives that supports economic development, and combats climate change.
“The Globe and Mail is colluding with Harper and corporate interests to prevent Canadians from hearing about new ideas for the economy. Why are countries like Norway prospering, while young Canadians can’t find jobs?” said Green Party spokesperson Julian Morelli. "By controlling what ideas and plans are discussed, the Globe and Mail is propping up Mr. Harper’s attempt to suppress votes and limit debates. Neither Harper nor NDP Leader Tom Mulcair will commit to attending the CBC English language debate, which reached 11 million viewers in 2011."
Phillip Crawley, Publisher and CEO of the Globe and Mail, is deliberately limiting the debate on the Canadian economy. This furthers the Globe and Mail’s corporate support for the oil industry and Stephen Harper.
